On-board wi-fi specialist Gogo has received a supplemental type certificate (STC) from the FAA to install Ku-band satellite equipment on Delta Air Lines’ fleet of 777-200ER.

The STC is Gogo’s sixth with the US carrier, having already gained FAA certification to retrofit Ku-band equipment on Delta’s 757-200, 767-400, 747-400, 767-300 and A330 aircraft.

Gogo said it expects to complete installations on Delta’s international fleet by 2016.

Earlier this month, Gogo rival AT&T abandoned plans to enter the inflight connectivity market after just seven months.
