Emirates has signed a ten-year contract for technology giant IBM to provide it with IT infrastructure services.

The outsourcing agreement, worth $300m, will help the Middle Eastern carrier improve efficiency on its passenger support systems and functions.

The agreement will allow Emirates to encrypt data in real-time and help it build new apps which will be accessible to developers.

The new cooperation grows the relationship between the parties after they collaborated on a passenger service system project earlier this year.
