National carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has installed Ramco System’s aviation suite software to help automate its MRO operations.

The software replaces nine systems which the airline previously used to manage the maintenance of its fleet and work for third parties.

The system was installed in a “record time” of 11 months, according to Ramco, and provides MAS with the ability to automate and streamline engineering functions, simplify compliance checks and improve inventory management, using barcoding technologies, for example.

The system is currently being used by 300 engineers and is set to be rolled out to a further 800 staff by July.

Ramco claimed the new enterprise management software will help MAS to “scale-up its MRO business”.
