NATS, the operator of the UK’s air traffic control system, has promised rebates for airline and airports affected by last week’s computer failure.

“Under the company's regulatory performance regime, customers will receive a rebate on charges in the future.

The amount is being calculated and will be notified to customers in due course," the company said in a statement.

NATS will also spend $900m upgrading its systems over the next five years.
