AFI KLM E&M will provide maintenance support for the GEnx-1B74/75 engines powering Chinese carrier Xiamen Airlines’ fleet of 787-9 aircraft.
The agreement, announced today (January 20), expands on an existing component and engine support contract for the airline’s fleet of 787-8 variant.
It will ultimately cover six 787-9s, with Xiamen taking its first of the new widebodies in December 2016.
Terms of the contract include shop visits, maintenance and spare engine access to guarantee the availability of Xiamen’s 787-9 aircraft. Work will be carried out at AFI KLM E&M’s GEnx center of excellence in Amsterdam.
Cai Chengbao, Xiamen Airlines executive vce president, said: “Around the ideas of trust and partnership, AFI KLM E&M and Xiamen Airlines have forged solid ties, which are now being strengthened with the signing of the latest agreement.”
