American Airlines to Bolster Tulsa Tech Ops Workforce

New additions will focus on interior modifications work on Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A321 aircraft.

American Airlines has confirmed it is looking to hire an additional 165 maintenance technicians and support positions at its Tech Ops center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The positions at the Tulsa site, which is home to the world's largest commercial aviation base maintenance facility with a volume of 3.3 million square feet, follows the airline's August announcement that it was looking to hire 400 new technical staff to aid MRO work related to new programs such as the Boeing 787 aircraft across its aftermarket network.

The additional 165 staff, which will be comprised mostly of FAA licensed mechanics, will focus on interior modifications work on Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A321 aircraft.

In 2019, American says it has hired more than 1,000 maintenance technicians to its Tech Ops unit comprised of both frontline team members and support staff. In total, the airline MRO employs more than 15,000 people.
