ANZ acquires more Virgin Australia shares

Air New Zealand (ANZ) is to acquire an additional three per cent of the shares of Virgin Australia, taking its total interest to 22.99 per cent. It has also made an application to the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) to make a further three per cent acquisition of shares – which would take it to the maximum it is permitted to own under the Australian Corporations Act. The initial agreement is subject to customary FIRB and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) conditions. Air New Zealand said it had filed the required Substantial Shareholder Notice.
