Authorities Ground PAL For Second Time

Chilean carrier PAL Airlines has been forced to suspend operations following an audit by the country’s civil aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). According to local media, a DGCA audit of PAL’s accounts revealed that the airline had defaulted on its payment of passenger embarkation taxes, in addition to aeronautical charges. PAL had its air operator’s certificate suspended for 10 days by the DGCA in May as a result of the carrier allegedly breaching “technical requirements” that could “endanger safety”. The airline is yet to release an official comment.
