BA Backs A350-1000

British Airways parent IAG has signed a pre-contract for 18 A350-1000s, the largest variant of the forthcoming A350.

IAG also agreed 18 options, and while all of the 350-seat aircraft are earmarked for BA, slots have also been secured for Iberia, though “firm orders will only be made when Iberia is in a position to grow profitably, having restructured and reduced its cost base”. The A380 will become the first long-haul Airbus aircraft in BA’s fleet when it is delivered this summer; the A350 will be the second if it enters service with BA as planned around 2018.
