China Airline Confirms GE90 Order

China Airlines has finalised its order for 20 GE90-115B engines. The engines will be used to power the 10 777-300ERs it has on order. The engines are valued at $170m at current list price and delivery will begin in September 2014. Four of the airline’s 777 will be leased from GECAS and six will be purchased from Boeing. Huang-Hsiang Sun, chair of China Airlines, said: “China Airlines is currently operating Boeing 747 for long-haul routes. We believe the twin-engine GE90-powered Boeing 777-300ERs will greatly improve fuel efficiency.”
