…DOT Protects Public From Free Market

US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are to protect air travellers from hidden charges on basic airline services. Airlines will now have to be more upfront about fees for checked baggage and provide performance data to DOT to ensure procedures are in line with consumer protection requirements. Services that must now be more transparent include: checked baggage, carry-on items, and advance seat assignments. Codeshares and rankings will also become more transparent under the new regulations.
