Emirates is to continue using ‘Lido/RouteManual’ from Lufthansa Systems after the two companies extended their existing agreement by five years. The airline also uses ‘Lido/eRouteManual’ charts, ‘Lido/Flight’, ‘Lido/FMS’, ‘Lido/AMDB’ and ‘myIDTravel’ solutions. The paper-based ‘Lido/RouteManual’ and its electronic counterpart ‘Lido/eRouteManual’ provide navigation charts for take-off and landing procedures as well as airport and route charts. The charts are generated from the ‘Lido’ navigation database and supply important route information including altitude, airport data and true-to-scale geographic information such as terrain features. The electronic version enables faster and easier updating, enabling more efficient route planning. Peter Ahnert, SVP regional management Middle East/Africa, Lufthansa Systems, commented that the renewed contract will support Emirates “as it moves towards a paperless cockpit”.
