Ethiopian Airlines has secured nearly $130m in financing from the US Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) to cover the purchase of long-range Boeing aircraft. "Ex-Im Bank is pleased to add another transaction in our successful partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, which is supporting hundreds of jobs in the US aerospace industry. This transaction also demonstrates the tremendous potential of Africa for US exporters," said Ex-Im Bank chairman Fred Hochberg. Since 2003, Ex-Im Bank has approved a combined $2.2bn to finance Ethiopian’s purchase of Boeing aircraft. In May 2012, it authorised financing for 10 787 Dreamliner aircraft, four of which were funded through a capital-markets bond issuance in November 2012.
