Fastjet Secures First South African Aircraft

Fastjet, which aims to become the first pan-African low-cost carrier, is to launch services in South Africa after securing a 737-300 on wet lease from Starcargo Airlines, a South African lessor. Fastjet has partnered with Edward Zuma, son of president Jacob Zuma, and other investors to launch the airline, which will be 75 per cent South African-owned. Fastjet will use the AOC of local carrier Federal Air to begin services.
