Fears Mount Over Fate Of Air Algerie 5017

Contact was lost this morning (July 24) with an Air Algerie flight holding 110 passengers and six crew.

Algeria's state news agency reported that nothing had been heard from flight AH 5017 since an hour after its take-off from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. The MD83 was scheduled to land in Algiers at 05:10 local time.

Madrid-based Swiftair, which operates the aircraft on a wet lease for Air Algerie, has also reported the loss of contact.
