Flight Tracking Guidance On Track, Says IATA

Recommendations to improve the tracking of aircraft will be presented to the ICAO at its assembly in September and should be published by the end of 2014, IATA confirmed at its AGM in Qatar today (June 3). The guidance is being developed by the newly formed Aircraft Tracking Task Force (ATTF), a group of industry experts with representatives from OEMs, airlines and aviation organisations, and will include minimum performance requirements for tracking systems. IATA committed to the improvement of aircraft tracking following the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines MH370. The ICAO is also set to consider performance-based international standards to ensure the broader adoption of airline flight tracking.
