Gulf Air To Slash Headcount

About 800 jobs are set to go in the first part of Gulf Air’s restructuring, a union official has said. The loss-making airline could eventually cut 1,800 jobs as it seeks to trim costs and secure a $490m Bahraini government bailout. However, the Gulf Air Trade Union has not been formally made aware of the plans and is calling for greater transparency from airline management. "There is no clear picture and we have asked top officials to show us the airline's restructuring plan, but they want us to give them a proposal," a GATU spokesman told Gulf news.
