Pegasus Soars

Profit at Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus is running at almost double the level of 2012, hitting TRY226m ($110m) for the first nine months of this year. The airline has carried 22 per cent more passengers this year thanks to a larger fleet and better aircraft utilisation, and has also succeeded in cutting costs by about four per cent. Load factor has been 80.6 per cent, which is roughly five points lower than successful Western European budget operators, though Pegasus does not yet face much direct competition from such airlines.
