Shandong Airlines, an Air China subsidiary, has ordered 50 737s slated for delivery between 2016 and 2020. Aircraft on order include 737NGs and 737MAXs in a deal worth $4.6bn at list prices. The airline currently operates 75 aircraft on routes within China, as well as serving Japan and South Korea. Shandong’s strategy focuses on the airline’s provincial routes and inter-China service between Shandong, Xiamen and Chongqing. Fleet expansion is planned to increase Shandong’s complement to 150 aircraft by 2020.
