SIA A330 loses engine power at 39,000ft

An A330 operated by Singapore Airlines (SIA) lost power in both of its engines at 39,000 feet on Saturday (May 23).

The Trent 700 powered aircraft, carrying 194 people on a Singapore to Shanghai flight, descended 13,000 feet before it regained power.

The aircraft landed safely around an hour and a half later.

In a statement, SIA confirmed the incident occurred three and a half hours into the flight after the aircraft "experienced a temporary loss of power" due to bad weather.

SIA said it is launching an investigation into the incident.
