Spring To Retrofit A320 Sharklet

Chinese low-cost carrier Spring Airlines is to have sharklets installed on its entire fleet of A320 aircraft.

The LCC has signed a deal with Airbus to have the sharklets retrofitted on 40 A320s, after having the aerodynamic upgrade on six of its fleet in September 2013.

Airbus claims that the upgrade will reduce the LCC’s fuel costs by up to four per cent and increase aircraft mission range by up to 100nm.

The composite sharklets, which are a line-fit option on new A320s, have been available as a retrofit option from Airbus since February 2013.
