Tame Suspends Venezuela Flights And Awaits Payment

Ecuador's Tame airline has suspended flights to Venezuela, leaving 80 passengers stranded, as it waits for money it says it is owed from the Venezuelan Central Bank. According to local reports, Venezuela's bank owes the airline $43m and has not paid them any of the revenue it has made from ticket sales since April 2013. It has also been reported that the bank owes a collective $3bn to multiple airlines operating within the country. Local reports suggest the bank had offered to pay Tame in government bonds and aviation fuel, but the negotiations fell through.
