Ver.Di Union Hits Lufthansa With Strike

The “majority” of Lufthansa’s European and domestic flights will be cancelled today due to a strike held by its trade union, ver.di.

Only 20 of Lufthansa’s scheduled 1,650 short-haul flights will operate today. Routes in operation include Berlin, where strike action is due to end by 2:30 pm CET. Long-haul flights to and from Frankfurt and Munich “will be only partly affected”, the carrier said. Of Frankfurt’s 50 scheduled flights, six will operate and of the 17 planned within Munich, only three will operate. All three of Dusseldorf’s long-haul flights are scheduled to operate as planned. The ver.di union also hit Lufthansa with a seven-hour strike on 21 March. The dispute was over pay and working hours.
