Zambia Calls For New National Airline

The Zambian government is increasing its efforts to re-establish a national airline, according to local news reports. Minister of transport Yamfwa Mukanga has reportedly set up a committee, which is tasked with providing recommendations to the cabinet. Mukanga reportedly claims that some national airlines have already shown interest in partnering with a re-introduced Zambian airline while others have said they would help finance aircraft for the carrier. The minster stressed that the lack of a national carrier had negatively impacted regional tourism and exports.
