FACC Solutions Expands U.S. MRO Capabilities

The added space and capabilities serve the company's plans for aftermarket services growth in the Americas.

FACC Solutions is furthering its business in the Americas with an expansion of its location in Wichita, Kansas. The new facilities, which the U.S. components subsidiary expects to have fully up and running by August, include an additional 60,000 sq. ft. of production space and 5,000 sq. ft. of office space.

The expansion is part of the company’s 100 million euro (approximately $118.5 million) investment plan focused on technology and capacities, which began last year. “We see great potential in the repair and maintenance business, which is also reflected in a 200% growth achieved at our U.S. site in Wichita,” says Robert Machtlinger, FACC’s CEO. “By expanding our Wichita factory we want to become the absolute number one for our customers on the market.” Machtlinger says the additional space from the expansion will enable the company to driver further growth in its aftermarket services.

Established as a component repair station in 2014 for the modification of Boeing 737 blended winglet to split scimitar winglet systems, the facility has gradually added additional parts capability due to positive market feedback, including the Boeing 767 winglet and Airbus A320 sharklet. With the expansion, the location will increase staff, service in progress and capabilities—such as added paint capability and a composite repair shop that can accommodate larger composite systems.

The Wichita subsidiary received EASA Part 145 approval and certification as a foreign repair station in February. Between Wichita and FACC’s infrastructure in Austria, the company meets the needed technical and certification requirements to perform maintenance on structural components of wings, tail units, engines and cabin interiors.

FACC Solutions plans to start business at the new location on June 1.
