Aer Lingus has extended its line maintenance contract with Monarch Aircraft Engineering for Airbus A320 support at London Gatwick Airport. The companies did not disclose the value of the four-year add-on.
Line maintenance competition is significant, especially as operators continue to look for ways to reduce costs. “With the other big players in the MRO [maintenance, repair and overhaul] market doing all they can to increase their market share, we have to work hard to remain competitive in this area,” says a Monarch representative.
Monarch also provides line maintenance technical services to the Irish carrier in Malaga, Spain, and at Manchester and Birmingham, England.
More than 60 carriers use Monarch for line maintenance.
