After recently extending its slide and inflatable maintenance agreement with Air Canada earlier this month, the AJW Group expects future expansions of the cooperation between its AJW Technique business and the flag carrier.
The two parties announced the new contract on Oct. 11, which was expanded to include the majority of the aircraft types, in the Air Canada fleet along with those operated by Air Canada Rouge and Sky Regional.
These include Airbus, Boeing and Embraer with all work to be carried out at AJW Technique’s facility in Montreal.
“In the time that we have partnered with Air Canada, we have doubled the size of our workforce at AJW Technique, securing jobs in Montreal,” says Gavin Simmonds, chief operations officer of AJW Group and general manager of AJW Technique. “As the terms of the contract have been exceeded, additional work has been secured as a result, and we expect this to continue in the future.”
AJW, which says the contract length and value are confidential, has worked with Air Canada since 2013.
During that period, Simmonds says efforts to reduce Air Canada’s inventory and streamlining its procurement through specialized supply chain programs have resulted in Air Canada only experiencing one AOG incident in the past five years.
