AMES Expands MRO Facilities

US-based independent MRO Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services has opened a new 105,000sq-ft hanger at its site in Wilmington Air Park, Ohio. The two-bay hanger can house two widebody aircraft and expands capacity at the site by close to 50 per cent. The facility includes: a composite clean room; a segregated paint room with heat treat ovens and a 15-tonne crane capable of removing total tail sections. The new $15.5m hanger was built with support from Ohio’s administration and is expected to create 259 jobs.
