Work has begun on the construction of Wizz Air’s new maintenance hangar at Budapest Airport.
Ground was broken on Friday (April 17) at the site which will accommodate a 2,000m2 hangar and 200m2 service facility.
Wizz Air signed a 15-year lease for the hangar with Budapest Airport last June and is scheduled to launch maintenance operations on site in September.
The new hangar is located between hangars operated by Lufthansa Technik and Aeroplex and will have capacity for a single aircraft.
Wizz Air began basing a fleet of nine aircraft at Budapest Airport this spring and will use the facility to undertake line maintenance and minor repairs.
