Caerdav Line Facility To Aid French Carrier’s Summer Schedule

The company, which re-branded from Cardiff Aviation earlier this month, has opened a dedicated line maintenance station for ASL Airlines France in the Welsh capital.

British independent MRO Caerdav has launched a its operator support service and has set up a line maintenance station to service Boeing 737NG aircraft for ASL Airlines France.

The French carrier has a fleet of 15 of the Boeing aircraft operating on passenger and cargo routes mostly on wet-lease for other airlines. These include Canadian operator Air Transat, which operates one 737-700 on lease from the Paris-headquartered airline.

The new facility, located at Cardiff Airport, will provide routine maintenance services for ASL Airlines France over the busy summer period with the aim of maximizing aircraft utilization.

Caerdav’s technicians are expected to be based at the airport until September. They will work on a 24-hour schedule carrying out any necessary repairs or mandatory checks. Other aircraft services provided by Caerdav include AOG support, parts supply and engineering services.

The business, founded in 2012 with its main facility in St Athan, specializes in Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft, while also providing services for 757 and 767 aircraft variants. It also has a training division focusing on pilot training.

Earlier this month, it changed its name to Caerdav, a move the company says is motivated by a desire to more closely integrate its training and maintenance divisions. In addition to the new line station, it also plans to move training from beyond the cockpit to focus on cabin crew attestation.

This follows addition of new certifications, with the FAA granting Caerdav Part-145 repair station approval in May in a move allowing the MRO to repair U.S. registered aircraft.
