British aircraft tyre manufacturer Dunlop plans to expand its retreading operations to the US.
The firm is currently evaluating potential sites in the South East and aims to open its first retreading facility in early 2016.
Dunlop currently relies on partner companies to retread and distribute its tyre casings for regional aircraft. The new base will enable the firm to sell directly to customers, as well as broaden its offering to cater for widebody and narrowbody jets, including the 737NG.
Dunlop claims that it exports more than 80 per cent of the products made at its Birmingham facility. In 2009, Dunlop opened a retreading plant in China.
