Expansion On Track, Aerostar Says

The Romanian MRO is adding to capacity by building a new MRO facility.

A contract has now been signed for the design, construction and fitting out of Aerostar’s new MRO facility at Iasi International Airport in northeast Romania.

The new four-bay MRO hangar which is planned to be open for business in the summer of 2019 will increase Aerostar’s throughput of Airbus A320ceo and neo families and Boeing 737 classic and new generation overhauls by up to 40%.

The new facility, announced last year, lies 130 kilometers north of Aerostar’s existing business operations at Bacau where two dedicated hangars provide six to seven aircraft bays.

Last year, Aerostar said it completed a total of 87 aircraft completed C and D-checks in Bacau and so far in 2018, it has maintainted 52 aircraft.

The repair specialist recently carried out Europe's first C-check on a CFM LEAP-1A-powerered Airbus A320neo operated by Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines. The aircraft was serviced in April and was followed by two further A320neo operated by Pegasus.
