FAA Warns About Ground Vehicle Collisions

The FAA has urged airports to review driver training programmes after an increase in accidents involving food service trucks, aircraft tugs, and baggage tow vehicles. These have resulted in both fatalities and damage to aircraft. Operators have been encouraged to review driver training programmes and also restrict non-essential vehicles from ramps, while airport managers should consider implementing recommendations from the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) on ramp safety. Spot checks and increased personnel levels have also been recommended.
