GE Aviation Opens Alabama Facility

GE Aviation has opened its new jet engine component factory in Auburn, Alabama. The 300,000ft2 facility will produce machined parts for GE jet engines that will power future commercial and military aircraft; it will also support the current fleet of GE jet engines in service. The $75m facility will also manufacture high-pressure turbine airfoils, delivering its first parts later this year; it expects to hire 50 employees by Q4 2013.
