Iberia has been certified by Spain’s AESA air safety agency to maintain IAE V2500 engines. The certification conforms with both European Air Safety Agency and US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Iberia Maintenance will inspect its first V2500 engine this April at its facility adjacent to Madrid-Barajas airport. Only six other companies, of which five are in Europe, are qualified to repair the V2500 engines. Both Iberia’s IAG parent and Rolls-Royce played roles in the certification process and the granting of the license from the engine manufacturer, the IAE consortium.
