Lufthansa Technik has announced the formation of a new parts business for the Asia-Pacific region - Lufthansa Technik Component Services Asia-Pacific.
As part of a strategy to increase its presence in the region, the German MRO has also established a new component facility in Hong Kong.
According to Lufthansa Technik, the new warehouse offers a wide-spanning network for customer care in Asia-Pacific along with its existing locations in Singapore and Narita.
The new company will employ 30 staff who will be responsible for local customer support in Asia-Pacific, along with supplying materials.
The firm said the new business’ close proximity to Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen maintenance company will give its Hong Kong warehouse an advantage.
Lufthansa Technik has also committed to investing in new technologies at the centre, with confirmation that it had filed a patent for a new product called the “gate box” (gate.control), an automatic material identification system.
The technology will look to ensure components are allocated faster to suit demand while avoiding input errors.
