South African low-cost carrier Mango is to add two additional 737-800NG aircraft to its fleet before the end of this year.
The arrival of the aircraft represents a capacity growth of 150 per cent and network growth of 100 per cent since the airline’s launch eight years ago.
Mangos’s CEO Nico Bezuidenhout said that Mango’s approach to growth has been consistently prudent:
“In a market where capacity and demand are out of sync and competition extreme, our investment in continual research and strong business case considerations has paid dividends.”
Bezuidenhout also expects to see the arrival of another start-up in the market before mid-2015, but warns that its introduction would “exhaust the sector”.
