TAP’s Annual Engine Haul

TAP Portugal’s MRO division is conducting around 100 engine shop visits annually at its facility in Lisbon, says Ana Bidarra, general manager planning and control at TAP Maintenance & Engineering at Aviation Week Network’s Aero-Engines Europe in Istanbul. The engine shop offers services on CFM56, CF6 and CFM Leap engines.

AAR Earnings

AAR will release financial results for its first quarter of fiscal 2020, ended Aug. 31, after the market closes on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Rolls-Royce Open To Network Expansions

Rolls-Royce is looking to further expand its portfolio to include more short-term and fixed-priced overhaul services, while also adding further capacity across its engine aftermarket network. In recent times, most of these engine shops have been partnerships with independent and airline MRO facilities.

Gogo Milestone

Gogo has surpassed 1,500 total commercial aircraft installed and activated with satellite inflight connectivity.

C&L Aviation Mechanic Receives Charles Taylor Award

Glenn Alan Williams, a mechanic for C&L Aviation Services, has received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award from the FAA. The award is given to aviation mechanics who have reached 50 years of aviation service with at least 30 years as a certified A&P mechanic. 

Locatory.com Launches Engine Stands Leasing Business

Locatory.com is investing $10 million in a new engine stands leasing business that will initially offer stands for CFM56A/B and CFM56-7 engines. The company has started operations in Europe and is planning its first orders for Asia.

Orkal To Distribute AdelWiggins Heater Products

Orkal Industries has signed an exclusive global distribution agreement with AdelWiggins, which includes the latter’s proprietary heater products used for freeze protection within a variety of commercial aircraft applications.

Textron Aviation Opens Manila Service Location

Textron Aviation has opened a new service location in Manila in collaboration with PhilJets Aero Services. The facility offers maintenance on Beechcraft King Air 200/250/300/350 aircraft registered in the Philippines and is pursuing type certification for Cessna Caravan and Beechcraft King Air 90 aircraft.

VIP Interiors Removal

GDC Technics has dispatched a repairs alterations modification services team to India to manage the removal and reinstallation of a completed VIP aircraft interior because the Airbus A319 will undergo a routine C check.

JetBlue IFE

JetBlue has selected Thales’s Avant inflight entertainment system as part of the onboard experience for its new fleet of 70 Airbus A220-300s, with delivery beginning in 2020.

ANA WiFi

All Nippon Airways has begun equipping selected Boeing 777-300ERs with SITAONAIR’s ONAIR WiFi portal, powered by GX Aviation.

Diehl Aviation is presenting Skypax, a cabin monument solution for optimizing use of space by combining galley and toilet in the tail of an aircraft. The module was developed in cooperation with Lufthansa Technik. The clever arrangement of this cabin monument frees up more space for additional passenger seats in the aircraft. In addition, the reduced weight has a positive effect on fuel consumption.

Component MRO In Siberia

Russian aircraft maintenance provider S7 Technics has launched a new facility for the repair and refurbishment of cabin components for Western-built aircraft at its Novosibirsk Tolmachevo maintenance base. This is the first such facility beyond the Urals to be able to help airlines in Siberia, the Far East of Russia and in the central Asian regions to efficiently ensure their aircraft cabins are in good condition. EASA has extended its approval to the Tolmachevo facility as part of a broader agreement for the production and repair of aircraft cabin components that includes two other dedicated workshops which produce plastic details for passenger seats, metal parts, soft inventory and placard stickers for external and internal use.

A330 Redelivery Check

Joramco and China’s ICBC Aviation Leasing have signed a heavy maintenance agreement to perform a redelivery check including a full paint livery for one A330. 

CataCap to Acquire AerFin Holdings

Private equity firm CataCap plans to acquire AerFin Holdings by becoming the majority shareholder in the group. CataCap says AerFin’s status as the fastest growing aerospace and defense company in Europe was appealing and it plans to strengthen the company’s business and make it ready for further international expansion.

Ametek Ameron Receives FAA-PMA Approval On Weldments

Ameron Mass Systems, the OEM division of Ametek Ameron, has received FAA-PMA approval on two cylinder weldments—one for supplying emergency power for landing gear, nose wheel steering and braking on Gulfstream G-1159A/B and G-IV aircraft, and one to energize the emergency power assist system of Boeing 777 passenger entry doors. The company says the weldments are identical to the OEM weldments in fit, form and function.
