AAR Corp and Kenya Airways have signed a five-year power-by-the-hour (PBH) contract. The deal, worth several million dollars, was supported by the Obama administration’s Doing Business in Africa initiative. Launched in 2012, the initiative encourages US firms to export to the continent with support from the department of commerce. US exports to Africa have increased by $1bn since 2012, according to the department. AAR Corp will provide PBH support for Kenya Airways 737NG aircraft. The company will set up an inventory site in Nairobi, and offer additional rotable support from a supply chain hub in Brussels. The company already services the landing gear on Kenya Airways’ 777s.
