German airline Lufthansa has placed an order for Rolls-Royce to provide its SelectCare services for the Trent 500 engines powering its fleet of Airbus A340 aircraft.
The engine services will be carried out at N3 Engine Overhaul Services, the joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and Rolls-Royce. Jöerg Hennemann, SVP commercial fleet management at the Lufthansa Group, said the decision to enter into the SelectCare program was driven by its flexibility.
“We value the greater flexibility and improved economics that SelectCare offers with respect to the specific requirements for our Trent 500 powered fleet,” he said.
The British engine manufacturer said the SelectCare package, launched in January 2016, is a fixed price agreement allows customers to benefit from its OEM insight and aftermarket capability, while providing cost certainty and fleet plan flexibility. To date, American Airlines and Icelandair have signed up to the program which is tailored for operators of mature engines.
