SkyWest Signs Up For GE’s OnPoint

US carrier SkyWest Airlines has signed an 18-year contract with GE Aviation for its rate-per-flight-hour maintenance programme “OnPoint”.

Under the agreement, signed yesterday (June 17) at the Paris Air Show, GE will provide material support for SkyWest’s fleet of 86 CF34-8E engines which power its E175 fleet.

The new deal, which GE estimates to be worth $550m, follows on from a contract signed in 2012 under which GE provides material for SkyWest’s fleet of CRJ aircraft.
