Snap-on’s Portable Tool Control system

UK-based toolmaker Snap-on Industrial has launched a new battery-powered version of its electronic tool-control system. The tool cabinet is fitted with cameras and software that tracks when tools are used and by whom, records when tools are damaged or lost, for example, and provides email alerts when issues occur. The cordless version means that the unit can be moved around a maintenance facility to where the tools are needed, saving engineers time, claims Snap-on. The unit’s batteries are rechargeable and if the unit runs out of power it shuts down after saving the latest data.
