StandardAero Opens New Helicopter MRO Facility

StandardAero says the facility in Vancouver, Canada will help streamline helicopter MRO processes by consolidating work in the region.

StandardAero has opened a new helicopter MRO facility in Vancouver, Canada as part of its efforts to streamline helicopter support operations through establishing dedicated centers of excellence. The facility will join StandardAero’s helicopter centers of excellence in Winnipeg, MB and Langley, BC—dedicated to helicopter engines and airframes respectively—as well as MRO’s other helicopter support facilities across North America, Europe and Asia.

“Just over a year ago, we set out on a mission to improve our operations in a manner that would allow us to better leverage the expertise of our skilled workforce and streamline our processes to achieve higher levels of efficiency and customer service,” explains Claus Eisenschmid, vice president and general manager, helicopter programs, StandardAero. “The opening of our new StandardAero Vancouver facility is a major milestone in completing that mission and fulfilling the promise we made to our customers and OEM partners to establish highly efficient centers of excellence, and we are extraordinarily grateful for the immense support we have received from them throughout this transition.”

The 24,000 ft.2 Vancouver facility will bring together similar work previously completed at two of StandardAero’s former shops in Richmond, BC and houses all of the company’s Cycle 2 support shops, including machining, cleaning, painting and non-destructive testing for GE T700/CT7 engines, Rolls-Royce M250 engines and Airbus Helicopters dynamic components. A representative for StandardAero says the consolidated shop will enhance its operational model by “leveraging unique capabilities, qualifications, resources and technicians across the various products supported.”

Meanwhile, StandardAero’s Winnipeg and Langley facilities will continue to support a wide variety of helicopter platforms from Airbus, Bell, MD Helicopters, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Rolls-Royce, Safran and Sikorsky.

StandardAero Vancouver has received Transport Canada validation across all of its supported product lines and is designated as an authorized MRO center for the OEMs. StandardAero says the facility employs just over 50 team members.
