TUI Travel Orders 60 MAX Aircraft

TUI Travel has committed to buy 60 737 MAX aircraft, subject to shareholder approval. The deal, which includes 40 737 MAX-8s and 20 737 MAX-9s, is worth $6.1bn but TUI said it has gained a “substantial” discount. The travel company also has options to purchase another 60 737 MAX aircraft under the same terms and 30 737 MAXs under new terms. TUI Travel owns and operates six European airlines – Thomson Airways, TUIfly, TUIfly Nordic, ArkeFly, Jetairfly and Corsair – with a total of 141 aircraft. The aircraft are due to be delivered from January 2018 through to March 2023.
