Vietnam Airlines signed a 12-year EngineWise service agreement with Pratt & Whitney to cover the PW1100G-JM geared turbofans powering its fleet of 20 Airbus A321neos. The airline took delivery of its first 203-seat A321neo in November 2018 and launched revenue service later that year.
Aftermarket service coverage started retroactively, from the first delivery.
Pratt & Whitney didn’t reveal the details of what is included in Vietnam Airlines’ contract, or the cost, just saying the EngineWise coverage is tailored to the customer’s fleet and operation.
Vietnam Airlines currently operates 15 of its 20 203-seat A321neos.
The carrier took delivery of its 100th aircraft In October—a Boeing 787-10. It also operates Airbus A350s, A321ceos, Boeing 787-9s and ATR-7s and plans to replace aircraft over 12 years old.
The airline launched a component MRO joint venture with ST Engineering—Vietnam Singapore Technologies Engineering Aerospace—in September. The JV provides component MRO services for domestic and international airlines for the aircraft types Vietnam operates.
