Virgin Atlantic has opted to replace its 747-400 and A340-600 fleet with A350-1000s.
The British carrier has ordered eight of the type from Airbus and signed leases for an additional four from Air Lease Corporation.
The bought A350s will arrive from 2019 while Virgin should receive two of the leased units in 2020 and two in 2021.
Last week HAECO Xiamen completed one of the final cabin upgrades for Virgin’s ageing 747-400s.
