Coatings manufacturer Ionbond has gained certification from Airbus covering coatings produced at its Greensboro, North Carolina site.
Ionbond's PVD (physical vapour deposition) coatings are used as a surface treatment on airframes and components to prevent corrosion and improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Following the certification that its US plant meets Airbus’ specifications, Ionbond will be able to provide its PVD coatings produced at the site to the OEM and it suppliers.
Ionbond’s plants in France and the UK already hold Airbus approval.
Ionbond is set to supply coatings to Airbus’ new A320 familiy assembly plant in Alabama, which is scheduled to open later this year.
