Final assembly of Airbus’ first A350-1000 aircraft has begun at the OEM’s plant in Toulouse.
The newest version of the widebody, one of three test aircraft to be built, is expected to begin flying before the end of this year.
The first delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for mid-2017.
The aircraft manufacturer also confirmed it is set to ramp up production of the A350-900 and has added three additional final assembly stations to accommodate the -1000 variant.
To date, Airbus said it has amassed a total of 181 orders for the A350-1000 aircraft from 10 different customers.
