APB’s Split Scimitar Winglets Have Lift-Off

Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) has received supplement type certification (STC) from the FAA for its ‘Split Scimitar’ winglets to be installed on 737-800 aircraft. The winglet programme is part of a five-year design effort that uses computational fluid dynamic technology to “redefine the aerodynamics” of the ‘Blended’ winglet into the new Split Scimitar winglet. The winglet offers strengthened spas, aerodynamic scimitar tips and a large ventral strake.
