Boeing Breaks Ground On Composite Plant

Boeing has started work to construct a new £1bn facility at its site in Everett, Washington which will produce wings for the 777X.

Scheduled for completion in May 2016, the 93,000m2 plant will fabricate the composite wing for the new widebody.

The 777X will be available in two models, the 350-seat 8X and the 400-seat 9X, and is due to go into production in 2017.

Earmarked for a 2020 delivery, the 777X has 300 orders and commitments to date, including a 150 aircraft order placed by Emirates in August.
